America's role towards global politics shares a great impact to all regions around the globe. From APEC to NATO, almost all international agreements involves the presence of United States of America. The upcoming US election changes the international agreements and sanctions if the present administration will not continue or the present administration will not delegate the task to the next president. American voters must realize that they are not voting for America alone but they are also voting for the world governments that in gulf the US policies. Sanctions of US government to other nations must be considered in choosing the next US President.
As an ASEAN point of view, US role in the region helps greatly as a catalyst for other ASEAN members and countries surrounding the ASEAN region. The presence of US government in ASEAN region nurtures the educational, technological, & political aspect of the ASEAN people. The future of rural logistics in ASEAN region will depend upon the technical assistance of US to allow SME companies in the region in entering the world market. Considering the enormous richness of the ASEAN natural resource, converting raw materials to finish products requires the technological interference of United States and other WTO member countries. Therefore, the US presidential election affects to the rural livelihood in the ASEAN member countries in the long run. Consequently, ASEAN authentic culture draws back to the cultural behavior of being high context people "talk less act more" . With this cultural behavior, ASEAN society adapts very slow in any social change. With the present and effective political management, continuing the present political program is more likely to be a good option rather than changing and resetting the programs that will result to a long period of political conditioning.
Finally, selecting a leader determines the future of the country and its international relationship; a sound relationship to your neighbor will allow happiness and friendship to prevail. Global peace starts when we consider the needs of our neighbors.
