APA (American Psychological Association) Writing Standard accepts the scientific validity of blogging: A highly debated issue in the world of research writing
Upon continuing my research task in my work
place, I always make sure that all my writing guidelines are based from the
standard of APA research writing principles. But to my concrete surprise,
blogging is now accepted in APA citations.
I first heard this information from my twitter feeds few years ago but I
tried to neglect it due to the fact that blog articles has no statistical and
concrete mathematical solutions that will prove the actual feedback of a given
sample. At present I’m using blog to
discuss with my learners about their insights and ideas towards any given subject
matter creating notions and inferences based from their readings. Even though they are basing their conclusive
writing through their intuitions, facts from their readings will also prove the
validity of their writing.
Indeed, blog
writers will start to become serious with their writing articles knowing the
responsibility of giving the right information will affect the research result
and above all will affect the company or any institutions that will use the
research as the guideline for business ventures. On the contrary research writers will feel
the “glass-ceiling” between the scientific writing and blogging. This murky area of writing standardization
must be addressed by APA organization to resolve the doubt of research writers.
Noting that research writers are always quoting their writing compositions from
research journals accredited from any university research department, the
sanctity and respect of research writing is always above other writing
standards.
Research writing will change
business plans, political and administrative views of a given country, knowing
that research is the backbone of administrative decision making to both private
and public sector. Thus, blog writing
will be a “plus” for research writing (in my notion) in getting the raw
feedback from the writer’s perspective, based from readings and actual
experiences. To be fare with statistical
crunching, I think it’s best to allow every blog host company like “blogger”
owned by Google, Wordpress and many more to develop a platform that will
segregate all the blogs by subject area, topics and statistically give an
automated statistical computation allowing the blog researcher to rely its
conclusive citation not only from the writing of one blogger but from the
different bloggers writing the same topic inside one blog host site.
I strongly believe that in the future
blogging is a vital part in research writing, with the enormous KMS given by
cloud computing, blogging is a natural and fundamental aspect in getting the
torrents of world views in different aspects and faculties. With the acceptance of APA organization
towards blogging, that goes to show that the future of KMS in blogging will
dominate the future of information data system and technology. I hope that my present learners will feel the
importance of blogging and the responsibility of a more ethical blog writer
giving only the true and honest information across the Internet. Moreover, I’m looking forward for APA
organization to give more detailed citation rules in using blog articles for
research resources in the next 8th edition. The blog citation information is written in
APA (American Psychological Association) manual 7th edition page 215
Chapter 7.11 sub-chapter 76 ISBN 978-1-4338-0561-5.
