Just what I thought! In my previous blog I concluded that
the only platform that Facebook cannot surpass with google is the education
platform. Google education is integrating its platform with other universities
around Asia for integrating the classroom instruction to the online education
resources.
As of today Facebook launches
the new Facebook Academics to cater the students using their facebook accounts.
Facebook is getting smarter, in a sense that Facebook Academics will cater the
academic journals just the same with google scholar.
As of this time, teacher cannot say that
students cannot use Facebook inside the classroom. Facebook is part of the curriculum and
Facebook is part of research. In fact,
Facebook has already committed to have business with JSTOR academic journals.
Maybe, if I will use JSTOR journals via Facebook I can have discounts or rather
free journals for my research. I don’t
know what is the real business deal between Facebook and JSTOR at this time, but
what I’m hoping is Facebook can change the discriminating world of research resources.
As I refer to my previous blogs, the world is
flat in the world of internet. Maybe Facebook
can change the expensive buying and selling of journals into a free information
research journal platform.
