Coca Cola in Myanmar: An Example of International Business FDI

Browsing the news today, what catches my attention is the business update of coca-cola’s comeback to Myanmar.  What could be the benefit and the disadvantage of the new Coca-cola Myanmar.

For more than 60 years Myanmar is enjoying the taste of Coca-cola but due to trade restrictions of the government of Myanmar, FDI is crippled for many years.  But as of today the giant cola company is enjoying the marketing dominance in Myanmar.
Coca Cola in Myanmar

As to the consumer marketing relationship conceding that the people of Myanmar are connected to other local brands for more or less 60 years, the challenge of Coca Cola is the shift of consumer loyalty from the local brand to the widely known brand name, Coca Cola.

Looking in a bigger scope, not only Coca Cola Company will operate in Myanmar but more MC by FDI will operate in Myanmar for business.  The flow of investors going to Myanmar will continue for years’ granting the fact that Myanmar is rich in natural resources.  Asia is the next America I suppose… Just watch and learn.
