The complexity of modern firms today requires a reliable and logical source of managerial reference. I was browsing some of my books today and I came across the scientific discipline of Management Science applied to the modern society today.
Narrowing the scope of this blog discussion, I
would like to focus my imaginative revelations towards the application of
Management Science to business operations and production. As the word science rules the subject matter,
the basic concepts of Management Science evolves on the three basic types of
model.
3 BASIC TYPES OF MODEL:
1 Physical model- refers to the replica of a given business engineering
project proposed. To portray for easier understanding, a model airplane or a
model house will give the recipient of the model an exact imagination of the
finish product or the business engineering project. In deciding either to continue
the project or not, top level management must look at the physical model or
replica in order to imaginatively infer towards the possible technical occurrence
in the future.
2 Analog Model- in addition to the physical model, analog
will give the recipient of the model understand more by presenting the
frequency of a given business project. Example, for a given project maps,
meters, and charts will give the recipient of the model the exact technical
behavior of the given business engineering project by looking at the real time
automated dashboard. As such, the innovator can realize and more logical
business engineering management to complete the business task.
3 Symbolic Model- will project both Physical and Analog
model to a more mathematically inclined theoretical model. In this last model the business engineering
manager who is executing the task can concretely present in an academic manner
the previous observation from the physical and analog models.
Gladly, Management Science as a whole will help the humanity’s
innovators to rephrase, remodel, and eventually come up to a scientific
invention to whatever field of science in helping humanity’s subsistence.
