The fundamental purpose of conducting a research for any
field of academic faculty is to improve humanities and to solve the society’s
problem. In the modern scientific world
data information can be gathered anywhere using the modern technique of
research. For example in the field of
medicine, epidemics are cured because of medical research findings and
conclusions.
For this reason, I always
emphasize to my learners that in living in the modern society today one must
realize the importance of research for human survival. As such, the basic gathering of data for
research is an important first step in order to acquire good research
information as a basis for society’s scientific social management.
In a basic format of gathering data, two data sources are
needed in order to support a given idea written in a framework. A scientific idea is not a valid idea if the
inference is not well supported with the secondary and primary data. In this blog journal the writer would like to
impart the deference and the relatedness of both secondary and primary data
source.
SECONDARY DATA:
Therefore, these various conclusive supports written by scholars and
scientist will testify that the writer’s present research study is relevant to
the society’s improvement of living.
Various sources of secondary research materials can be found in most
academic venues of society such as the universities and research centers. But with the rich connectivity of the
internet of today, research data or secondary research data in particular is
far more advance due to the websites that are exclusively offering the P2P
researcher’s data sharing platforms. To
some websites, profit driven research data availability can be purchased by a
given researcher for personal consumption, though sometimes the data is
expensive but the content is worth spending your monetary resource.
SECONDARY DATA:
Basing from the scope of the research, secondary data must
relate to the actual circumstance of the research problems defined and the
research objectives. Secondary data in a
general academic understanding is a secondary reference that will support the
notion of the actual research topic or framework. Moreover, secondary data are related research
data to your present research task.
With the support of the secondary data to prove that your
inference is worth the time and effort in finishing your research project,
primary data on the other hand will evaluate the actual feedback of the desired
respondents in a given geographical scope.
To have the quality information gathered from a given primary
respondents, one must consider in creating the effective questionnaire material
for quality primary information gathering.
In the previous blog article of the writer (http://ryansinnovativeideas.blogspot.com/2013/08/using-cronbachs-alpha-for-testing.html), the author emphasizes the
usage and importance of Cronbach’s Alpha in measuring the quality fir each
question given. As such, mathematical
tools are needed to measure the quality of questions for the respondents.
As a conclusive view, both primary and secondary data is
necessary to complete a given academic research task. Failure to synchronize both primary and
secondary data will lead to misrepresentation of research result and
conclusion. A thorough evaluation of primary and secondary sources is needed to
align both data references towards the research objective, hypothesis, problem,
and eventually the conceptual framework.
(It is advised to read my previous blog article in order to
fully understand the concepts of research writing and data collection http://ryansinnovativeideas.blogspot.com/2013/08/using-cronbachs-alpha-for-testing.html)
