Differences in sociological beliefs and cultural backgrounds lead to the unique emergence of world culture. But as ages passed by, cultural beliefs and practices is not enough to organize the world society but instead global leaders alike are considering education as the bridge to the new world unification.

regarding University unification will allow the future world citizens to
consider the brighter future of the forthcoming world citizens socio behavior
through educational program.
The program
of NYU in particular is the specific pattern for other universities to follow
in terms of the program and curriculum.
On the contrary, MIT has their own program at present regarding the edX
global program which I post to my blog last year when they first lounge this
program. The similarities between NYU
and MIT educational program is the sense of bridging the intellectual gap
between one regions of the world to another.
Why Education:
Education as a concept proves that theoretical perceptions
and ideologies through academic empirical studies will naturally emerge and
evolve in a unanimous manner. In this
regard, communicating with other culture across the globe needs the educational
commonality to preserve the academic respect applied to the different faculties
of society.
As a result these
educational programs of NYU, MIT, UNESCO, AUN, et al. are all subject in
unifying cultures and beliefs across the globe.
But what if one educational institution will not join the “bandwagon”
program of this education globalization?
At this point of time, we are in a dilemma of “point of no
return”. “Point of no return” implies to
the demanding high technological society of today. Globalization in the field of business for
example, is increasing rapidly since the emergence of internet technology.
With this concern, a business organization or
a learning institution who will deny the global change of society and beliefs
will naturally suffer itself in terms of communicating and interacting to the
world. A gradual self-alienation of the
party (business organization or educational institution) that will not follow
the flow of civilization’s change will occur not because they are not part of
the educational or business program but rather their organizational practices
is not accepted anymore in the general practice of academia applied in business
organizations.
The project of some selected elite schools in the US are
having distant learning program to cater the academic needs of the students who
wants to learn the academic practices from US imported from the WEST to the
EAST. In this academic setup, the world
of academia will be flattened in terms of academic standards and
curriculum. Indeed, the program of
Harvard (edEX) and Stanford (MOOCs) are just the beginning of the educational
globalization. As an academic
institution or business organization in Asia, are we ready to face the huge
change of the 21st century?
