Months had past and the case of Ms. Napoles is still in the
hands of the Philippine Senate. From the
comments of Senator Miriam Defensor today, of the 12 Senators some are not
present from the hearing today when in fact the case of the “Pork Barrel Scam”
is an historic case of corruption in the Philippines. The emergence of the new witness by the name
of Ms. Tuason re-echoed the clamor of Mr. Benhur Lui the leading star witness
of the case.
Setting aside from the
angle of the case and looking at the stance and credibility of Ms. Tuason, many
of the legal columnists in the Philippines and the Senate itself is questioning
upon the motives of the witness Ms. Tuason.
Is she a Buzzer Beater or a Trojan horse? This statement from the pulse of the Filipino
people and the senate in particular will show that the case of this “Pork
Barrel Scam” is still long way to go.
Though the emergence of Ms. Tuason will give more light and hope to the prosecutor
and the witness group, but the more angle of the case the more room for the
defense to play and bend the credibility of the main statement of the star
witness. Either a Buzzer Beater or a
Trojan horse, I hope the voluntary emergence of Ms. Tuason as a witness against
Ms. Napoles will not delay and spoil the whole Senate hearing
investigation. The Filipino people
deserve a clean and honest government.
