When Religion Becomes Evil; A Philosophical view and modern reflection from the writings of “Charles Kimball”
Having religion today is somewhat skeptical to some
academicians and scientist granting the notion that religion will not give a
just opinion and views to other religions and counter parts. Many of the conflicts from world history and our
modern day civilization will always conclude to the conflict of teachings and
beliefs in religion. In such manner,
many religious groups today are considering the effect of religion and how it
affects the world society.
In terms of
law and government, one nation for example cannot fully implement the
legislative laws of the land without referring to the morals of religion. Even today religion is the basis of morals in
our supreme courts around the world. But
the literature review of Charles Kimball emphasize the extreme usage of
religion and its morals to the modern government and civilization of
today. In the first chapter of the
academic compilation the author questioned the reason of the modern
civilization’s problem, is it because we have different religions that is why
we are in a continuous conflict when it comes to values? In the second chapter of the literature
portrays the truth claims of the different religious groups that is deem crucial
to the national and international governance of a given country. Many countries today are having dominant
religious values that they are following, that will sometimes discriminate
other minor religious groups. In such
common result, the minor will always shout for justice and fair
governance.
Charles Kimball
To refer some of my ideas, integrating the literature of Sebastian
C.H. Kim (2008) Cambridge University Press emphasize the usage of religion in
Asian civilization. During the time when
Europe and the west influence the Asian civilization. Religion, education, and
Healthcare are the forefronts of their civil influence. In that manner, the culture of Asia is a
mixture of religious cultures from different religious society. Certainly, we can conclude to the notion of
Charles Kimball that the modern society today is confused when it comes to
values and morals in such a way that the religious teachings are still authentic
and modern realities, education, and technology are rapidly increasing in
knowledge and infrastructures. The huge
contrast between these two civil fundamental backgrounds will create a vortex
of confusion and sometimes chaos to the national and international level. In this manner world leaders and religious
group leaders are aiming to unite religious practices and government to achieve
long lasting peace. Finally, HUMAN RIGHTS MUST BE RESPECTED regardless of your religious group to achieve LONG LASTING WORLD PEACE.
