The two terms which
will give a conflicting thesis will always result to a debatable subject in an
academic view. Recently the countries in
the Pacific for example are the best model of globalization and national
sovereignty conflict. ASEAN member countries are long been formulating programs
in all areas of governmental faculties to unite the 10 countries and other
additional interested nations outside the ASEAN region. But the vision of globalization is still far
from reality considering the national interest of all member countries are
always at stake. The first issue that
most member countries are particular with is the land dispute.
G2G negotiations covering International
maritime law is always in conflict under the jurisdiction of the International
court and U.N. Subsequently,
inter-trade and logistical processes are being affected by the customs duties
and policies being exercised by the respective member countries of the ASEAN group
of nations. As a result, the balance of
standard of living and the quality of life across the ASEAN region is still far
from possible. Indeed, ITO
(International Trade Organization), WB (World Bank), WTO (World Trade
Organization), and IMF (International Monetary Fund) are imposing their
respective authorities to regulate and impose the fair and exact treatment of
all the member countries in terms of international trade and business. On the contrary, these old policies regarding
National Sovereignty will steer a conflict to the new evolution of
globalization.
More and more academic
cases are being investigated and referred by many academicians and economists
as to how relevant is the old international policies affecting National
Sovereignty and the new concept and approach of globalization. As such, many nationalistic activist are
contradicting with the political ideology of the modern globalization and
International Trade. (Given example) Do you think the conflicting political stance between China and the Philippines will be resolved knowing that the National Sovereignty of both countries are not in congruence with the program of International Globalization?
