As Filipinos we’ve come a long way since the territorial issue between China and the Philippines regarding the West Philippine Sea area of responsibility dispute. A lot of opinions and blogs across the internet are already showing their support and likewise their disagreement regarding the matter. On the bigger perspective we can conceptualize the interconnectedness of governments and political events and even we can refer to previous historical wars of the world. Maybe, we can conceived that the picture of war is only exchanging of bullets and the bombing of buildings but other writers and journalist during the war wrote different articles and novels picturing the different angles of life.
For example, during the war in Germany the famous story of schindler's
list gives us another story and meaning of war. Likewise, during the time of
the Vietnam War we all agree that the best story and even the best picture in
the world of movies and cinema is the “Miss Saigon” portraying the love story
between an American Military and a Vietnamese citizen. What I’m trying to
portray is the different sides of the epic war stories to show that War and War
Politics is a huge matter. We can say
that war is only conquering nations and considering winners and losers. We need to consider as well the collateral
damage of War.
In
the case of China and Philippines at the moment going to war is not even a good
thought. Just try to imagine two great
nations (US & China) fighting with their high technology weapons and the
playing ground is the Philippine area of responsibility. What can we do…. Remember we are not watching a movie war
inside our TV set. If you ask the old
Filipinos (WW2 Veterans) I’m sure they will all say “there are no winners in
war, only losers”. Again we can portray
that statement during the war in Vietnam were the war took a huge portion of
our world history but still America did not won the Vietnam War.
THE
FLIP SIDE OF THE VIETNAM WAR STORY:
As
I continue to read the publication of “Karl Marlantes” (2010) published by New
York Times I can just imagine if I’m in that time during the Vietnam War it
seems that war is part of life. Military
intelligence inside Vietnam are being delivered by whores and children across Saigon. Many American Hollywood actors and actresses
visit the GI’s in Vietnam to give them inspirational show. But then again the War in Vietnam is a never
ending life story of the people at that time.
On the contrary, DRUG CARTEL DURING VIETNAM WAR is still going on were
the drug traffickers has now an easy access to the US soil. At that time the case of Frank Lucas is so
famous across the American Press with his cleverness in transporting the
illegal drugs across America using the Military planes of US.

THE
BUSINESS OF WEAPONS:
Weapons
on the other hand is also a big business specially when there is war. You can just imagine during World War 2 when
the American people needs to donate their “canteens” for the production of
bullets and armored tanks. Those were
the days that there is huge demand of iron and other minerals for weapon
production. On the contrary, the
business of weapons is in its crisis after the two Germanys united and the
Soviet Union open to WTO. The production
of weaponry in Russia stop and the government itself confiscated huge amount of
weaponry just to achieve world peace. As
a result, smuggling of weapons from Russia to Africa emerge as a world alarming
case together with drug cartel again.

Finally,
in the case of China and Philippines at the moment do we need to go to war? Just come to think of it, we go to War with
the Japanese during World War 2 but now we are good friends and allies. And how about China we go to war today and
then tomorrow we are good friends? WHAT
IS THE BUSINESS OR PATRIOTISM BEHIND THIS POLITICAL CASE….. Maybe these people
from Bilibid will go International Business when we go to war…. Who knows…
