President Duterte’s Ripple Effect; From Micro to Macro Public Governance

Many online blogs and opinions referring to the effectiveness of President Duterte’s public administration narrows down to the functionality and effectiveness of his governance given the fact that the President is from Davao City.  The huge leap of his career from Mayor to the country’s President will give doubt to many Filipino citizens that is not so familiar with his style of governance.  The general understanding that Davao City governance is too small compared to the national public management.  Even during the campaign our President promises the public that he will make the whole Philippines like Davao City (As exhibit A). Certainly,  as what we can witness of his few days in office, huge changes in traffic management and drug prevention program is already starting to “ripple” around the archipelago.  I can understand myself… same with other citizens and netizens the fact that Davao City is not the same city compared to other capital cities around the Philippines. 

QUESTIONS:

1. Do you think the President can impose the same Public Management effectiveness across the archipelago granting that Davao City has its own sub-culture identity? and as a nation we are even divided with our dialects?
2. Do you think other LGU representatives will accept his governance?
3.  Is Davao City governance effective in other provinces?

The above questions are just a few of our doubtful instincts as a citizen of the country.  To doubt is to question and to question is good, because we are all after of what is good for our country in terms of governance.

CHALLENGE FOR OUR PRESIDENT AND THE COUNTRY AS A WHOLE:

Our President at the moment is unique compared to other previous Presidents (Even his outfit is unique).  His style of governance will give as “butterfly-effect” in our stomach that sometimes we are surprised from his spoken words and the bold implementation of his governance.  But if you ask the people of Davao… they love Mayor Duterte before he became Pres. like their own Father.  As citizens we can conclude that his honest commitment will bring healing to our nation in terms of poverty and drugs for example.  As a nation our challenge is how we can amplify the success of the city governance of Davao to a national level since we consider Davao as the PROTOTYPE model of President Duterte’s Public Governance.  NOW IS THE TIME…. MAYBE TOMORROW IS TOO LATE.  “May bukas pa ang Inang Bayan”
