Reading
the novel of Furnivall inspired me to imagine things how civilization will evolve
in the future. The communication beyond
borders creates a connection or a barrier in such a way that understanding one
culture may sometimes depend upon on how a person or a country conceived. Accordingly, the novel portrays a classical
plot of a Russian lady spy Lydia who went to China for a living with
intentions. The story further tells her
relationship with a man in China were Lydia is having a hard time cracking all
the communication materials just to get the right information. Reading further with Furnivall’s novel
convince me that the later chapters will reveal enormous excitements in terms
of how he manage all the communication challenges in terms of the barriers that
she encountered every time.
To ponder
upon the plots of the novel, I conceived that International border relations
and communications is a vital aspect in surviving for a given country of today.
One may be a friend but an enemy in reality or one who is an enemy but can be a
good ally in the years to come. We may not know, but what is important is the national
interest and sovereignty of a country.
To give a concrete example, during World War 2 Japan and Germany are
enemies of the allied forces but today they part of the allied forces. Relationships may change due to the national
sovereignty that our country needs.
Sometimes we try to rationalize the events that one country may affect
to another just to preserve the relationship but on the other hand, national
interest of its citizens are being affected deeply that national civilization
will suffer for another decade.
From
Kingdoms and Countries, the survival of its people and country fundamentally depends
from the present performance and future plans of the leader. The past can be a good lesson to learn for
present and future strategic plans. If
the world is like Junchow Civilization, then who are the concubines that will
suck the interest of the country?
