To Dream the Impossible Dream: Using Computer Science of Human Decisions in Achieving World Order

Reading the first few pages and chapters of Henry Kissinger’s publication World Order opens my intuitive imagination as to how the world will come to order.  With the many unique cultures that I discussed in my previous blogs, it seems that world order is but so impossible to achieve. World order is what every human being is dreaming of in terms of governance and diplomacy. But instead of world order humanity and the world achieve instead two world wars in the history of mankind not including the isolated wars in other parts of the world like Afghanistan and Somalia.  The complex culture in the Mediterranean peninsula and the regions in Euro Asia down to the elusive silky road in Asia and the Africas will clearly state the continued diversity in our world society. Thus, Kissinger as the security adviser of Richard Nixon and Gerald Ford is ambitious and desperate to achieve the World Order same with Lenin and Marx who are eager and desperate to achieve the Utopia of Communism. Relatively, every political ideology wants to achieve world peace and order and the utmost utopia of society. But human realities doesn’t allow the dreams of these famous diplomats and scholars.

Almost all academic books that relates to diplomacy and governance, national sovereignty is the major factor that nations will not achieve the unification of policies and laws imposed as a unanimous world order. Moreover, Kissinger also emphasized that religion and political backgrounds are a huge factor in unifying world governance.  Furthermore, the concept of Kissinger referred back to the history of Europe when the clash of nations and kingdoms in Europe came to a peaceful period during the time of Christendom.  Many kingdoms in Europe at that time came to a unanimous political agreement in accordance to the moral values background based from their catholic faith.  From this concept of political governance, there is a tendency that the strong pull of religious belief in public administration at that time is effective in rallying people together for the good of the society.  On the contrary the Islamic world in Middle East the Islamic Caliphate is also a good influence for the people in Middle East to come together for the sake of religious belief. Thus from Europe to Middle East religious belief made the people follow when government used their fundamental values from the major religious groups both in Europe and Middle East.  Same is true with American government, when you look at their money you can obviously notice the phrase “In God We Trust”. Sorry to the academics and Yuval, but religions around the world is still a huge influence in public governance. In fact, in the olden times religion is politics are integrated to achieve a more peaceful society.  But according to the studies and predictions of Yuval, Fukuyama, and the scientific comments of Kaku that Science or science based governance will dominate in a modern type of society in the future.

People are more driven with scientific data as reference for politics and governance. But less to forget the theories of Kissinger regarding the influence of religion in the society that until today it still controls a huge chunk of global population.  As such, we can conceptualize the influence of religion in the new world order to come.  What could be the aspects and specific terms thus religion must adhere to unify other religions for the sake of world order and governance. Furthermore, education and technology is another factor that Secretary Kissinger discussed in his book in chapter 9. Education and the technological platform of education today which is the internet makes the world smaller when it comes to education and communication.  With the internet business and economics are already starting to integrate eliminating discriminatory acts in the different national and international borders around the world, business starts to connect more globally.  Ordering online ebooks today in Amazon is that easy and comfortable to download compared to the physical book imported via logistical processes. Likewise, online education is dominant now a days in international education and academic upgrading.  Business and political entities can share and meet online via CISCO ERP infrastructure for example to collaborate their plans at hand.     By itself, countries today are increasing more of their government budget in education to achieve a greater advantage in knowledge acquisition for the consumption of the different ministries and departments of the government.  Take for example medical education, a given country must invest educating more medical student doctors to utilize later their knowledge in building strong medical services in the country.  On the contrary, some emerging markets like my country Philippines, education system are being deprived that it is very clear for almost a decade I suppose that many medical practitioners  are migrating to the west to achieve their expected treatment as professional doctors and nurses. What is going on actually is a huge migration of professionals that it will cause national “Brain Drain”.  In my previous blogs I always emphasize the H1B visa of US that suck all the knowledge around the world.  Moreover, some countries are not only suffering with scarcity of professionals but also scarcity of human beings that I find it more acute in terms of human resource problems. As such, Kissinger’s world order dream is becoming more unrealistic.

The struggle of uniting empires and nations in Europe provided some of the countries in Europe like Greece more confused in their political and economic status in terms of their economic values contrary to the overall members of EU.    Even though Greece is a member country of EU, still Greece felt the isolation in terms of geopolitics knowing that Greece is only a member of EU not as a help to other members in terms of economic and military. As a result, the rich countries in Europe became richer and the poor became poorer.  One of the purpose of European countries to integrate economics and politics is to secure the European security against Russia.  Russia after the great revolution in France started to invade Paris.  The strong might of Russia is still the core reason why EU is still insecure in terms of their security specifically the smaller countries like Greece and Crimea.  In my next blog article I may discuss the case of Crimea and its diplomatic relations with Russia.  The obvious power of Russia that any country in the world cannot avail is its land area. Russia has huge area for agriculture and future national infrastructure projects.  But the weak point also of Russia is its land area.  Funny though but it is true that Russia has big land area full with its national resources but the problem of Russia is the logistical system to transport the goods from the center of Russia going outside the borders by land.  Sea ports in Russia is too far to spend logistical expense.  Thus, Oil pipelines are built to solve logistical expenditures.  Moreover, Russia border areas like in the regional area near Crimea is a geopolitical conflict area that during the time of George Bush Jr. and Barack Obama the Ballistic Missile defense in Europe built by US to defend US mainland if any nuclear airstrike will be initiated by Russia.  In the concept of EU, Germany’s eagerness to build EU after the Berlin Wall is a political stance that Germany is still worried of Russia. Relatively, smaller countries in Europe are dependent to the bigger countries like France and Germany to defend them during invasion and financial crisis.  Just like Greece, during the time of the financial crisis European member countries plays a huge role in recovering the crisis in Greece.  So how can Kissinger prove the possibility of world order? In his book the world order Kissinger mentioned only the basis of his discussions and arguments based from economics and politics. Likewise, a surprising theorem in the deeper side of logic and mathematics related to philosophy can also be considered.

COMPUTER SCIENCE OF HUMAN DECISIONS RELATED TO CIVILIZATION AND GOVERNANCE:

The book of Brian Christian and Tom Griffiths conveys the different algorithms and theorem of the deeper usage of mathematics used in civilization and governance. In page 128 of the book the theory of Bayes’s Rule gives an exact narrative example of J. Richard Gott III that in 1969, before embarking on a doctorate in astrophysics at Princeton, J. Richard Gott III took a trip to Europe. There he saw the Berlin Wall, which had been built eight years earlier. Standing in the shadow of the wall, a stark symbol of the Cold War, he began to wonder how much longer it would continue to divide the East and the West.  On the face of it, there’s something absurd about trying to make this kind of prediction.  Even setting aside the impossibility of forecasting geopolitics, the question seems mathematically laughable: it’s trying to make a prediction from a SINGLE DATA POINT.
Reasoning backwards are used to know the things being done according to the time spent in political and geopolitical experiences then one may understand and formulate the future of geopolitical governance. Thomas Bayes who created Baye’s Rule is a Reverend by profession and proceeded as a mathematician, his love of mathematics helps him to measure in a logical and mathematical manner the behavior of civilization using mathematical rules and theorem to solve civic problem specifically geopolitical problems.  Thus the eagerness of Secretary Kissinger to achieve world order is may and can be assisted with the many theorems of mathematics like the Baye’s Rule to predict the behavior of civilization in a given era.  Just like the Berlin Wall, according to history no one predicted the fall of Berlin Wall and that is a big lesson to the philosophers and mathematicians alike as to why they did not apply their concepts and theorems to predict and simulate the exact time when will the wall of Berlin will fall. Or why EU is not effective in imposing their policies in the member countries.  In the case of the World Order concepts of Henry Kissinger, how can Secretary Kissinger utilize mathematical concepts and theorems to aid the fulfillment of World Order.  With the present high-tech algorithm of google and many other technology companies like IBM I’m sure mathematics and modern technology can aid hasten the Theory of Henry Kissinger in terms of the next new World Order. Remember according to Professor Fukuyama democracy is decaying. Thus, governance must emerge. Do you think a New World Order will emerge and will be formulated to neutralize all the political ideologies from communism to capitalism?
