The Global Truth and Intelligence

One of David Baldacci’s novel challenges my imagination in terms of information and the new age of global power.  Since the start of civilization power in terms of civilization and governance connects to the military might and the knowledge of the people involved in the molding the political and military strategies before.  But since the time of the Roman Empires and the Empires of the Khans Military intelligence connects with the academic intelligence they have before.  Logicians and Philosophers are one of the sources of power in the empires before.  The reason Khan captured many monks traveling along the region of central Asia is to acquire information of what is the picture of the places beyond the Kingdom of the Khans.  Even the story of Marco Polo resembles the story of Davinci’s involvement in the military planning of the government of the Deveniche during the Renaissance time.  

The combination of Arts, Science, Logic, and Philosophical knowledge of  Da Vinci and Marco Polo both improve the political approach of the Empires represented in a global manner.  As the book of Niall Ferguson “The Square and the Tower” reveals the emphatic order of how Empires and governments of today acquire power through times.  The most interesting chapter that Niall Ferguson emphasize in his narrative is the power of information using the technology of internet infrastructure being used of our modern media today. According to David Baldacci’s novel “The Whole Truth” conveys the new atomic bomb of the century is not fallen from the plane called “enola gay” but rather to the rapid virality of information.  Information inside the fiber optic high technology is the new atomic bomb that will rattle the world blatant truth.  Indeed, many novelists explore the novel fantasy of writing many story plots in terms of the information technology specifically the internet.  Author like Dan Brown play around most of his novel story in terms of information and technology and the future of the world.  From past to present vital information usually in an academic presentation of information are more important in the series of world events specifically in an academic stored information.

The novel “The Whole Truth” drives the reader to the most vital role of information technology widely known as the internet as a special intelligence rapidly spreading like the fume of the atomic bomb in Hiroshima affecting the very minds of the human beings around the globe.  Thus, issues today like fake news and fake web sites are still the issue of the many trending headlines in terms of technology and information related to politics.  Information like the wikileaks are half true and half lie in the since that the sources in the internet information are all raw and fresh from the web cams of the smartphone users around the globe.  I like the term used by Baldacci in his novel blogs, chat rooms, emails, social media are the pandemic and the tsunami of information inside the “ocean” of internet.  The funny thing though, is the role of the mainstream media were more people are more inclined in the interactive communication with other people around the world in terms of blogging for example rather than the main stream media.  Like myself for example instead of opening the academic textbooks for research I’d rather refer my research technical problems from other online friends in Academia.edu and compare it with the academic text that I have as my reference before I will proceed with my academic technical writing.  I would say that online interaction P2P are more interesting specifically if the blogger for example are connecting with a blogger with same academic discipline.  Many researchers today from medical research, business, or engineering intertwine their academic references across the web to challenge more of the found knowledge and intelligence in their area of responsibility.  Thus, today researchers in Asia are more diverse in terms of the scope of research that he or she is studying empirically.  In the case of the story of “The Whole Truth” news research around the globe now is much easier compared before that one journalist must fly to Hanoi to cover the story of the Vietnam War.  While the present War in Kuwait and later in Syria and Afghanistan News coverage from CNN, Reuters, BBC and other main stream media are more interactive with the actual victims in Syria for example that people in Syria can connect their twitter accounts via their mobile phones and apps and send more “Shout outs” across the net. The Pandemic of Social Media and the internet as a whole brought both positive and negative impact to the mainstream media.  Most common and observable media scenarios are the real time scenario events in the scope of the news for example in Syria, but on the contrary the negative side of the story is the reliability of the news.  In my own opinion with regards to the control of fake news that every mainstream is having a hard time controlling it is that the power of interactive messaging in the internet today changes the landscapes of media of information.  

People today can comment of nay news either fake or true kind of information in the internet.  Some personalities specifically celebrities in Hollywood and politicians are the target of fake news and misinformation that the concept of negative publicity is more powerful compared to positive publicity.  People can shout out give wrong information across the web by mind you good readers will always find legitimacy and authenticity of information.  Remember the time when the outburst of wikileak and other sensitive information divulge by Assange, Still Assange needs the confirmation of the mainstream media.  Thus, mainstream media like the Guardians UK published those famous stories of Assange et al. and followed by BBC and other American mainstream Media like CNN.  Bloggers and netizens are only “Buzzers” and they only know how to “Buzz” things out in the internet, viral in nature that will burst like an atomic bomb that even mainstream media will still have time to feature in their nightly news segment the “viral videos” for the week or for the day. But legitimacy is still a big discussion in terms of the matter.  But Buzzing across the net is more interesting compared to the mainstream media.  In the novel of David Baldacci, the challenge of Agent Shaw as Special Intelligence, Anna Fischer the academic, and the ambitious journalist Katie James drive the story around the creepy internet environment of Russia and other 3^rd world countries.  How information intelligence will drive the three agents crazy in the age of internet reminds me of the power of AI in the novel of Dan Brown’s “Origins” the power of internet will dominate the world in the near future that even the internet technology itself will have its logic to decide and turn the world information according to the logical algorithm programmed in the main memory of the machine.  Remember Iran and other nuclear facilities around the world are driven by computer.  Even the power lines in the United States are all computer driven connected to the internet.  If information and the AI enhancement will dominate the global information then who will control the world, is it China or America.  With other 3^rd world countries the data information contributors with America which more intellectually driven human resource and organization data gathered from all corners of the world can easily be analyzed and interpreted into different faculties such as business, science, and other field of studies.  Any data submitted via internet will automatically be a contribution to the world knowledge were in United States is the biggest user of these raw information and data in the internet.  Example that we can cover is the data of Google and Facebook being gathered around the world that even Facebook today has its controversy with the information being crunched and interpreted according to the subject wanted. 

  

Russian government together with the Chinese government are more vigilant in inviting American companies like Google and Facebook knowing that these internet companies monopolizes information across the globe.  Do you think Russia and China can control the change of internet initiated by US? As we drive back to the origin of internet, internet is owned actually by the military for intelligence but for the reason that the high technology infrastructure is not gaining much compared to its expenses then the US government open the convenience of internet to the public specifically commerce.  From intranet to extranet the addiction of the people of America and the world with the fast-logistic information creates fast money in international business.  

But do you think that US government is just using the internet to bate the world to realize and conform the viral information that flows across the world continents.  If you can just imagine that America knows everything across the national sovereignty we have even Russia and China?  Do you think that America is the Rome of information technology that all world citizens has its internet persona what we commonly called as our AVATAR….  Remember the world is flat in terms of the internet today.  We know every street in America using google maps and same with the Americans connecting with the world.  Are we all American citizens today? Considering the present internet connectivity?  The challenge of Agent Shaw, Anna Fisher and the journalist Katie James continues how to control the new “Cold War”.  The international tension is in the hands of the person who can dominate and control the most powerful weapon of today, INTELLIGENCE weaponized by TECHNOLOGY or what we call internet and the future of AI.
