Americanization as what Peter Conrad termed the thesis of his published text “How the world was won”. The author carefully discussed the global political survival of the United States given the historical facts that the people in the United States are all historically “pilgrims” from Europe specifically from England. The discovery of the new world did not give any idea to the world leader during that time that America will rise like Rome and England. Rome a long time ago during the time of Caesar, many religions and beliefs that lead to the discovery of new knowledge and enlightenment pave the economic and political prosperity of Rome during that time. The great Rome cannot be conquered by any nations during that time but the similarities of these great nations on how they vanish from world political popularity are somewhat similar in nature.
Looking back also the history of the Pharaohs in Egypt, the empire of Egypt was only conquered not by other nations through war but by a rebellion among the political and military ranks inside the Egyptian army. The famous tale of Moses will prove that the convincing political and military power of Moses was able to rally the Jew slaves during that time that by then Human labor power of Egypt was deprived by Moses forcing the Pharaoh to consider the political request of Moses. Moreover, the case of Rome proves that the Emperor’s greatest enemy is from within during the control of Rome throughout the world during the time if the Pax Romana. The peace treaties created by Rome to other nations around the world gave Rome power and control in terms of Military and Business along the economic zones both land and sea.
The advance and well experience military of Rome during that time will prove that any nations will only submit to the terms and guidelines given by Rome to the different regions of the world. On a parallel political view America, today are having the same grip of political power throughout the world. The American military shows their love and compassion through their ideology written in the famous Hollywood tales and stories that controls not only the American and immigrant population of America but also the people of the world. To give real proof of this matter, we can consider the relatives of the late Kim in North Korea who wants to watch a Walt Disney show in Japan that by law Kim’s family due to their political isolatedness it is but illegal to travel like a normal tourist going to Japan until today. But even all the given odds, the relative of Kim was able to watch the Disney show in Japan. Indeed, the world was won by America according to Conrad. His book in chapter 8 discussed the importance of free enterprise in rising their economic dominance across the globe.
The economic system of capitalism is so addictive to the world population that even China became hybrid in their economic and political modern setup due to the acceptance of the world population in terms of the theories of Adam Smith. The historical test of the economic setup of Hong Kong and Taiwan will prove that the invisible hand of capitalism will turn the economic wheel of the nation towards prosperity. But on the contrary, these addictive democratic practices of America towards their international political relationship will also deprive the distinct cultural practices of many countries around the world. The famous history story of the “Bikini Island” in the Pacific that all the people are being contaminated by the radiation of the nuclear test before and during world war 2 will prove that their democratic gifts given to many smaller countries around the world will not come free at all.
Just like the case of the West Philippine Sea if the close door business and political agreement between the Philippines and the United States in terms of the disputed China Sea are not giving advantages to the American economy then why should they bother their 7th fleet to waste their fuel to cover the seas of the regions disputed for war. More to that, the war in Afghanistan is like a tale of no end that across the world news America will always lend their helping hand and political love to the smaller and unstable country like Afghanistan. The Philippines is likewise the same case. They try to release their political grip over Philippine government by withdrawing their airbase in the Philippines and allowing the Chinese government to start creping the Philippine government to show the contrasting political behavior treatment between China and America. But still, Filipino people love to watch the NBA while drinking Coca Cola and Pepsi.
The new American invasion is not like what Rome did to the world but through submission by helplessness in terms of economic and political stability of a given country like Iraq, Kuwait, & Syria. Conrad’s view of America is the modern Empire that consumes the political power of the international political community. Another stealthy and surprising involvement of American diplomacy is through conniving with local politicians and other minority groups that are dim against the ruling given government that is not in accordance with the international American ideology. The international acceptance of political democracy and love to the world by America will weaponize many of the local politicians that are eager to achieve political power and later spoil the real meaning of democracy. Such that, the claims of America’s democracy may not be a democratic act to some countries around the world, but local politicians are claiming to accept the American way that by then we are still following the US dollar standards in terms of economic and political terms.
Local politicians are trying to deprive the local population in terms of the financial freedom and comfort and long the what we call the “American Dream” with milk and honey. All around the world are looking at America like ancient Rome that everything is in America. America is next to heaven should say. When democracy is being weaponized by local politicians motives, later when the local politician will get the vote and eventually be in power indecent business and political proposal between the US and the given country will follow. Just like the war in Iraq, after the Saddam War, the rebuilding of Baghdad is a huge business opportunity of the US to invest and claim long contracts in terms of the natural resources in the region. Another factor according to Conrad that America is so effective in their international ideological invasion is that everyone in the world considers America as the global catalyst. Without America, the world will be at war. That is a strong statement and that is very true.
Without America or Pax Americana that the world will be in political and military unstable that Russia may invade Europe again and China will show their might in the Pacific. With these geopolitical setups, American presence is vital to world peace. America allows themselves to be in the middle of all the world political and economic conflict and agreement that by then all the countries of the world will be addicted to the use of US dollar as the standard of economic exchange. To some political analyst and researchers, they consider democracy the new fascism that by this time democratic flagship of America is not actually giving democracy to other country but only gave other countries shackles to their own culture and their distinct political sovereignty. The challenge, on the other hand, is how refined and suitable the present international policies that US and international courts are implementing to the world. Do you think that the world order is far from the order that by this time many countries are not even considered in terms of their participation in International order and diplomacy? Another chapter in the book that Conrad gave importance in his writing is the real meaning of America to the world. Why do some countries consider America doesn’t give any freedom and democratic treatment to them and to others America is like the savior of mankind?
If we consider the setup of the pilgrims in America, they traveled to America not because they want freedom but actually, they are political rebels of England at that time. But America later with its people and migrant workers using the H1B visa tried and was able to fabricate the colorful story of America just like Rome and old England. Hollywood is the number one PR propagandist of US that every child can memorize the storyline of almost all the American Walt Disney movies. Moscow on the other hand during the cold war is having a hard time creating fake news to be propagated to the world media just to counter-attack the political propaganda of the US. The story of “good morning Vietnam” will elaborate on the press role in world politics and world war.
Even if you read the business PR textbook of today, the opening case study will always point back to the PR propaganda of the allied forces during world war 2. Until today democracy is the most powerful diplomacy that almost all countries in the world would kill and spend all their natural resources in their country just to get all the freedom they want in different aspects in civilization.
