BORDERLESS EDUCATION and the future of Knowledge Management System between Industries and Universities

 Part of the e-government and SMART city program is the education of a given city or civilization.  Since the start of civilization and nation building, knowledge through schools and universities are always present to improve the standard of living of the kingdoms, cities, nations, or even the ancient cities in the Mediterranean long time ago. From the Empire of Ghenghis Khan and the stories of the world’s greatest civilization in Athens all of these famous civilizations have their schools and universities to create technologies for the general populations.  Philosophy started the innovative concepts of the city then mathematicians calculated the geometric functions to be processed by engineers for creating and producing the new technology in the material world. After the new technology is tested for use in the general public then these new innovations for the city will be implemented by government and the law makers for public governance and law and order.  



The Lost City of Knowledge






These cycle of civilization order of technology for example is practiced by nations and kingdoms since the start of civilization.  Our empirical studies and storage of knowledge in the library are the fundamental concepts of knowledge of nation building.  The tale of “Athens vs Sparta” war show more of the knowledge power of both empires. One is using knowledge for the economy and the other is using knowledge for military power.  This strength of civilization today that we can witness the economy of United States and with the rise of China were all in the book of Allison “Destined for War”, Allison compared United States and China like Athens and Sparta in terms of economic and military might and clash of powers.  The challenge of these two great nations today will always seek the academic advice of the scholars in universities in terms of the diplomatic negotiations.  Thus, the concept of my article will point to the importance of the role of the academe and the scientific knowledge management in a nation. The innovation of the nation will always depend upon the growth of knowledge of the kingdom or nation knowing that the survival and growth of the kingdom and nation are all guided with the intelligence of logic and reason.

 Thus, there is an immediate and important need for public and private sectors to connect to the academic world specifically in higher education.  The academic dilemma between the creation of knowledge in universities and the actual application are the dominant feedbacks from human resource learners from educational institutions when they work in the real business environment. This gap between education and the real work operation in the business industries gives a chance for higher education to function in the operation of the industrial operation.  Knowledge and actual application of skills from the human resource is a vital part in bridging the gap between knowledge and the output of work in the modern industries of today. Thus, the challenge of educational gap is a dormant case scenario in the improvement of civilization since the ancient civilizations.  



The direct application of knowledge from the university institutions are a common dilemma of many governments even today. Certainly, the programs of many governments around the world in terms of the SME’s are to grant small loans with the aid of the state universities in the assistance for knowledge and science and technology.  With this concept of knowledge and its application in real business operation in a nation, the fundamental theory of Gross Domestic product will rule out as the wealth producer of the country. Though some academics are discontented in terms of the theorem of GDP as the driver of the economy but still the domestic products of the smaller enterprise will sustain the nation specifically the rural areas of the nation. Higher education and the actual utilization of knowledge towards the nation is a vital part of the economy to have a continued knowledge and educational assistance from the state universities towards the SME operators specifically to the SME’s in the rural areas of the country that needs assistance in terms of  knowledge, science, and technology.

Famous IT conglomerates such as Microsoft Corporation are leading the Higher Education infrastructure to cater the BORDERLESS EDUCATION of the future.  Harvard and Princeton are leading the world online education program through MOOCS. The best part of online education that can help learners today in widening learners’ education and knowledge online is the involvement online by learners crisscrossing those platforms of education, maybe sharing those segments of study and knowledge with other universities that will create a new BLOCKCHAIN of knowledge that will further create a new NODE of KNOWLEDGE in the corner of the globe. Thus, Learning in a BORDERLESS EDUCATION can create a new NODE of BLOCKCHAIN of knowledge that will replicate  rapidly online without the restrictions of academic authorities.

Again, we are in a DATA DRIVEN REVOLUTION. It is either our nation will prosper or decay in the 4th industrial revolution.
